Where we are

Areas we cover

Forty locations between the Province of Sondrio and Canton Grisons, each with its own page. The map shows the municipality, never anyone's address.

These are the valleys we cover. We think in valleys, not kilometres: in the mountains fifteen kilometres can be ten minutes or a closed pass.

Why the municipality, not the house. On profiles we show the municipality and valley, never the address. Marking on a map where a person offering to come to your home lives would be a safety issue before it's a privacy one, and it often involves young women. The municipality is enough to understand who's reachable; the rest you sort out between yourselves once you're in touch.

Valley by valley

Fourteen valleys, two countries, two currencies. The "pets" column shows in how many of those locations there's also a page for dog and pet sitters.

Three things a map doesn't tell you

Fifteen kilometres can be ten minutes or a closed pass. Bormio and the Upper Engadine look close on the map, but the Forcola pass to Livigno is closed in winter: you go via Tirano and the Bernina, and it becomes something else entirely. That's why we ask sitters which valleys they're available in, not within how many kilometres.

The border is invisible. In Valchiavenna and Valposchiavo you cross it without noticing, but the currency, public holidays, emergency numbers and labour rules all change.

In winter the valley gets longer. Snow, queues, alternating one-way traffic: a twenty-minute trip in summer can take forty in January.
